Diagnose the failed attempt

Boss will not spawn

Stop buying weapons. Recheck the NPC request, special bait, and previous hand-in first.

You miss too many shots

Fix control or positioning before raw damage. A stable weapon beats a stronger weapon you cannot keep on target.

The boss is active

Watch the white timer bar, eat before casting, and sidestep the committed attack before pushing damage.

The boss is dead

Inspect the drop, keep the named trophy, and return it to the quest NPC before expecting new coordinates.

Treat every boss attempt as a two-part job: trigger the encounter correctly, then survive the fight with a controllable weapon.

Before you cast

• Clear at least one inventory slot.
• Carry the exact trigger item, not just a higher-tier ordinary lure.
• Bring a weapon whose timing you can repeat.
• Agree on who carries spare bait in co-op.

Spider Crab is tied to the Lighthouse and an Empty Beer Can. Giant Piranha appears on the Forest island with a Modified Leech. Pufferfish uses a Carrot from the Desert island tourist; keep the Carrot until the hand-in is complete.

Fight windows by boss

Boss	What to do during the fight
Spider Crab	Stay close enough to make it rush, sidestep the charge, then use the short stunned window before backing away.
Giant Piranha	Thin the small piranhas only enough to track the boss, sidestep its jump, and keep ranged damage on the main target. Bring healing.
Pufferfish	Use trees or another solid obstacle to break its straight roll, then shoot from the clean angle. Do not chase it into open ground.
Albatross / Terrorizing Bird	Catch Tuna first, fight near cover, and make the bird return to your firing lane instead of following it around the island.
Mutated Bowhead Whale	Stay inside the Volcano encounter area. After a landing, read the follow-up movement before returning to point-blank range.

Do not start an encounter while carrying another quest item. A clean inventory makes the result easier to verify and prevents a useful drop from being buried in the chaos.
