A stable early loop

  1. Catch the common pool with the cheapest bait that works.
  2. Sell ordinary fish while keeping quest-tagged or unusual catches.
  3. Buy the rod upgrade that expands access or reel forgiveness.
  4. Save enough for the next island’s bait before spending on combat.

Trick shots can pay more than routine catches, but only after you can repeat the setup. Once the grill is unlocked, cooked sales are reported at a 1.5x multiplier, so cooking becomes a useful mid-run upgrade rather than an early distraction. Co-op multiplies the speed of a good route, but it also multiplies mistakes.

The best purchase is the one that removes a bottleneck you can name. A bigger number is not automatically a better return.

The practical order is rod and weapon upgrades, then the bait tier needed for the next island route. Keep rare collection attempts separate from your money loop.
