Boss encounters use special trigger items. Spider Crab uses an Empty Beer Can, Giant Piranha uses a Modified Leech, and the Desert island Pufferfish route uses Carrot bait.

Keep a small reserve of the next tier before an NPC hand-in so one successful catch does not leave you stuck at the shop.

For exact species requirements, open the fish database. For special trigger items, continue to the boss fish guide before spending a rare bait.

Drip variants do not have a separate lure. For example, Drip Goby still comes from the normal Beginner Lure pool.
