How to Fish Rare Variants and Collection Route

Rare collection is a routing problem before it is a luck problem. Record the island, bait, and rod used for each unusual catch so a failed trip teaches you something. The current achievement guides call these rare or shiny creatures Drip variants.

A low-waste collection loop

1. Finish the current island objective.
2. Reserve one inventory slot for a rare or quest-tagged catch.
3. Use the fish database to select the narrowest bait tier that fits.
4. Sell routine fish around the target instead of replacing the whole loadout.

When the catalog grows after a patch, update the record first and make a targeted return trip. This costs less than buying every bait type at random. Treat Fishipedia as a separate cleanup goal after the story, not as a reason to delay island progression.

If Goby is the missing entry, follow the Drip Goby farming route. It uses the normal Beginner Lure pool; there is no special Drip bait.
